Spicy Momma's Reunion

A few years ago, a few friends and I decided to start a monthly get-together and we named it Spicy Mommas. Our husbands had a good time trying to rename us: Hot Mommas, Big Mommas - you name it! Once a month we would get together at a different house. The hostess of that particular house would do a cooking demonstration for all of us and then we would eat together once the meal was prepared. This was such an awesome experience for me because I had complained how I could not cook (and still can't) so I not only had a great time of fellowship, but also came away with a few good recipes and entertaining tips.

Believe me we had such a good time at these gatherings. We laughed together, cried together, got pregnant together, etc. etc. Really, at one time four of us were pregnant together, literally due within weeks apart from each other. My sis-in-law, Kelly and I were due on the same day - May 1, 2005. (Ethan was born 4/29/05 and Micah arrived on his due date, 5/1/05!) There was a joke amongst us that there was something in the water we were drinking at our Spicy Momma dinners, and if you didn't want to get pregnant, it was best not to join us! LOL

Sadly, our fun little group is no longer as life has taken most of us in different directions. Kelly and Steve are temporarily relocated to Turlock. Dean and Amy have moved on to the Sacramento area where Dean is serving as Chaplain in the CHP. Chris and Rebecca Chastain have moved on to Colorado where they just purchased a new home and are expecting a baby boy in a few months. Dave and Jen Nickens have also relocated to the Morgan Hill area.

Two weeks ago, we decided to get together for a little reunion since Rebecca was here for a visit, and I've posted some pictures of our time together. (Leah West was missing from our luncheon due to her work schedule.) I totally miss this precious time with the mommas. When lunch was over and it was time to say goodbye the tears started to roll. Hopefully, we get together again real soon. In the meantime, maybe this is something I need to start up in my own little corner of the world. Kellee, are you up to teaching us how to make guacamole?!

Almost makes me jealous. :( But, I am glad you have a group of friends (that even after your lives have taken you in different directions) can still get together for that every once in a while time together.

Spicy Mamas sounds like a fun group. If I were to start a group, it would be for ladies 40 and over, and I would call it Been There, Done That. LOL just kidding. It is good to have get togethers with friends, and I'm glad you had a good time.
